I am a photographer
I would never have made such a bold statement two years ago, or even a year ago but now I’m accepting the fact that I am a photographer.
I did take photographs for years. It started in High School when I got my first Canon A1. Sure I took some pictures but was never happy with the results and could not afford the habit so I tried other hobbies. I tried gardening, hiking, biking, carpentry and even model trains but I never stuck to it for long. but now I’ve been seriously been photographing for more years than any time spend in those other hobbies. Yup I’m a photographer.
I now see “light”. I’ll look up in the sky and exclaim, wow that’s great light to a friend or family member near me. They have no idea what I am talking about. Yea I’m a photographer.
I’ll drop everything to photograph objects in that light, Yup I’m a photographer.
I start to drool when I see new camera gear. New lens, new software… gotta have it. Yes, I’m a photographer.
I have so much gear that I needed to take out an insurance policy to protect my “investment”. And I never have enough gear and can never find the perfect camera bag to carry it all. Yup, I’m a photographer.
In the last 5 years, I’ve used three different camera bodies. I now use two bodies whenever I go out to shoot. Yes, I’m a photographer
I take my camera with me wherever I go. I’m not talking a single camera, everything, the whole enchilada. Yea, I’m a photographer.
I get up early and stay up late trying to capture different light. I’ll take night photographs or photograph in the rain or snow, I’m not proud. Yup, I’m a photographer.
I have photographs everwhere. Around the house, in my office. I have boxes of this stuff. I get excited when I see photo paper and have to touch and study it. Yes, I’m a photographer.
I have over 45000 photographs on my one Terabyte RAID drive. All rated, none throw-a-ways. (Yea I rate my images.) Yes, I’m a photographer.
And so I ask, as I acknowledge my addiction, for somebody to PLEASE HELP ME!
